Sunday 18th May,  34 turtles came out of the sea at Levera to nest!
Wednesday 21st, 16 turtles were nesting on Levera beach  = this was reported by young Josh, our newest member of staff who says it was "wonderful, real nice". The Marine Biologists asked us to wear dark clothing, as lighter clothing disorientates the turtles!

turtles in grenadaOn Friday 6 June we saw 3 Giant Leatherback Turtles!

On Levera beach last night ... a thrilling experience .....
Equally as thrilling for me on my second viewing of turtles coming out of the ocean to lay their eggs on our northern beaches was watching the wonderful experience the rest of our viewers were having ..... My grand daughter. Kayla and her friend Ardrianna age 7, three other kids of similar age,  one teen, auntie Jan  and all the adults ... All first time viewers of a purely natural event .... This I thought was exactly what is meant  by "Pure Grenada" ..... Their numbers are increasing every year .... Why because we have taken steps to protect these critically endangered species ... Pure and Simple .... If we keep the beaches in their pure state these giant turtles will simply keep coming year after year ... Even though they swim almost all around the world feeding up to 4,000 feet below the ocean ... They return to us in nature 3 to 5 years later, purely to lay their eggs ... Why because they feel safe in our environment

Let us keep our island how we love it ..... Pure and simple, small and unique, … Safe for all who walk free on it.
